Micro Loans for Massive Change: Kick Off

Something Massive has pledged to lend to entrepreneurs around the globe who are using profitable businesses to make their worlds a better place. For each of our new business wins in 2010, we will select an entrepreneur through Kiva and help to fund their business. We know we are the beneficiaries of a global economy and this is just one small way we have chosen to give back and knit ourselves to the world’s less fortunate but ever-tenacious entreprenuers. Their stories and the means by which digital communications bring them into our lives are our inspiration. Read more about why we chose Kiva here.

We used our 2009 holiday card to kick off the Kiva tradition. As a result of that successful campaign, we have extended a loan to Divina Misericordia, a group of women living in the rural areas around Santiago, Dominican Republic, where running water and electricity are unreliable. Their business is selling prepaid phone cards. Many are recent immigrants from Haiti.
