Something Massive Attends An Event Apart SF

The latest in the long-running An Event Apart conferences took place in San Francisco earlier this week and I was fortunate enough to be an attendee. The conference, which is dubbed “For People Who Make Websites,” was filled with excellent speakers on a wide range of topics – all full of enlightening and inspiring information. Jeffery Zeldman’s talk on designing for clients vs. designing for one’s self was especially good while Ethan Marcotte’s presentation titled “Comps vs. Code: Couples’ Therapy” featured one of the best looking Keynotes I’d seen in ages. The highlight was probably Jared Spool’s hilarious and insightful talk about why just because Amazon does something doesn’t mean you should too. Overall, it was two days of worth of dialogue from some of the more interesting people in our industry. The notebooks are full, the sketchbooks are overflowing, the fire is lit beneath me, let’s get these hands dirty with some new work.

P.S. Couldn’t resist including this stunning piece of typographic signage on the Rincon Center Post Office in SF. They don’t make ‘em like they used to.
